Our story
We’ve been running this in person for over a decade.
In 2015, Adam and James both moved to Newbury — strangers in a town where they didn’t know anyone. What they wanted was the thing most newcomers want: a friendlier, smaller way to meet other people in the same boat. So they started inviting them to the pub. The pub night turned into a Sunday roast, turned into bouldering, walks, and something that ran every week.
Hundreds of people have moved through MovedTo Newbury since. Friendships, housemates, jobs, partners — the whole story. We’ve run it on goodwill, Whatsapp groups, a half-broken website, and showing up.
The thing we kept hearing was: I wish this existed in every town I’ve lived in. So we’re building it. MovedTo is the local social club every town should have, run by ambassadors who care — chat between events, RSVP to socials, find your people without hunting through Whatsapp.
We open one town at a time, and only when we’ve got someone on the ground who’ll do for that town what we’ve done for Newbury.
