January Round Up

We started the New Year off in style in January with a whole host of socials that so many people got involved in. We welcomed the biggest turnout of newbies we’ve ever seen at our newbie night, with around 40 people joining us at The Elephant at the Market.

As well as our regular Friday night socials, there were also two MovedTo teams at the Newbury Rugby Club quiz night… and yet again one MovedTo team came in last place and won the pineapple!

Henry & Joe’s Pop-up Restaurant

What better way of meeting new people than around the dinner table? Join us at Henry & Joe’s pop-up restaurant on Monday 20th February to do just that.

Henry & Joe have worked for years refining their skills, from the Royal Oak in Yattendon to the Michelin starred Woodspeen, and now they’re sharing that with you. They offer an approach of honesty & accountability to service and food. They have joined the pop-up revolution to offer their take on refined dining. Good food, good friends, good times. Spaces are limited so make sure you click ‘attending’ on our event to secure your place as soon as possible!

Jurassic Bark Dog Walk

We are proud to be supporting the launch of a fantastic new Newbury dog walking business – Jurassic Bark. Their festive dog walk in December was a great success, with canines and owners from all over West Berkshire joining for a great winter’s stroll. Come and join us on Saturday 4th February at Snelsmore Common for another great walk in the outdoors. Whether you have a dog, love dogs, want dogs, are a dog, or just want to enjoy some time in the fresh air; come along, say hello, and find out what makes Jurassic Bark different!

What’s On in February

Plenty to get excited about this month in Newbury!

From Thursday 9th February to Saturday 11th, New Era Players are performing their next alternative production, ‘Sneaking Into The Theatre’, at the New Era Theatre. The play features a range of characters who all feel drawn by the nostalgic charm of an abandoned theatre. Some are grieving, some seek to impress, and some … simply miss the old place. Tickets are available now from boxoffice@neweraplayers.org

Also on the 11th is the Betfair Super Saturday at Newbury Racecourse, a key trial fixture in the run up to the Cheltenham Festival, with some great entertainment lined up for the day.

On Tuesday 14th there will be a drinks social in Newbury town centre (location to be confirmed), and come along to Henry & Joe’s Pop-up Restaurant on Monday 20th to meet some great new people in a relaxed atmosphere with an evening of refined dining.

Throughout half-term week there’s plenty happening for the kids, with arts and crafts Family Fun Days at both Shaw House and West Berkshire Museum on the 15th, 16th and 17th.

We’ve had so much fun at the last two quiz nights at Newbury Rugby Club that we’re going to make it a regular social! This month it’s being held on Wednesday 22nd from 19:30.

For those of you who love the great outdoors we’re joining Nightingale Fitness on Sunday 26th Feb for a 20 mile walk. This one is certainly not for the faint hearted, so get your walking boots to see what the Berkshire countryside has to offer!

Have a fantastic February and we hope to see you at one of our socials soon.
