How does MovedTo work?

We organise social events for people in Newbury and the surrounding areas. We also provide a WhatsApp community for individual interest groups where smaller socials are often organised.

We work with local businesses to create events which support them, and we support you as individuals to find and make new friends in a chilled and friendly environment.

It’s our aim to grow MovedTo nationwide to allow people in towns and cities all over the country meet, network, and discover their local areas.

What kind of events do you do?

We do anything under the sun! We tend to do a lot of very chilled pub and cafe meet ups, however, we also run regular book club and board game nights, as well as bouldering, camping, water parks, go karting, pottery painting, theatre visits, meals out, and much more!

I’m introverted, how can I pluck up the courage to come along?

You aren’t alone! The vast majority of us had nerves coming along to our first socials, but the only person who can overcome those nerves is you.

Everyone is friendly and welcoming – it’s up to you whether that bit of uncomfortability at the start is worth the opportunity of making new friends.

Take comfort in the fact that everyone is there for the same reason, and most likely everyone has felt how you are feeling! In order to gain anything from MovedTo you have to put the effort in – only you can ultimately decide whether you want to do that or when you are ready to!

I run a business, how can we work together?

We have a range of ways we work with local businesses depending on your business type and your goals. The best way to get started is to contact us and give us some information about you and what you’re looking for. We’d love to work together! 

What does it cost?

We have a mixture of free events and paid for events. Free members can attend any socials on a pay-as-you-go basis – the events calendar will show you any cost and facilitate payments. 

Once you are a MovedTo VIP, there are lots of free socials organised within the WhatsApp communities which are not listed on the events calendar. Please see more information on MovedTo memberships below.

How does membership work?

Free members can sign up to MovedTo for no cost. At this membership level, you can:

      • Access the announcement channel in the WhatsApp community

      • Join socials on a pay-as-you-go basis

    VIP memberships are paid annually and are the best way to get the most out of MovedTo. VIP membership includes:

        • Full access to the WhatsApp community 

        • Free socials

        • Reduced fee ‘event’ socials (such as go-karting, pasta making, sip n paint, etc.)

        • Exclusive local discounts

        • The option to create your own socials

      What’s stopping me from turning up for free? 

      We encourage everyone to support the MovedTo community by becoming a paying member, helping to sustain the efforts that go into organising events and building connections. Our community thrives on trust and fairness, so we ask members to play their part. If someone is found to be regularly attending events without paying, we reserve the right to remove them from the community to ensure a fair experience for all.

      Which events are free?

      Spontaneous events within the WhatsApp chats – such as a walk or a casual pub meet up – are free. Pre-arranged events, events with limited spaces, and events posted on our booking calendar will have a small charge. 

      What happens to the booking fees?

      The booking fee goes to MovedTo to cover the costs of organisation, management, and co-ordination of events and the community.

      Venues are not involved in the booking fee, unless it is a paid booking (such as a Christmas Party). Venues are supported by our attendance through purchases – whether it’s drinks at a pub, meals at a restaurant, or any other offerings they provide. It’s a win-win for everyone involved.

      Can I get a refund for an event? 

      Bookings are non-refundable, unless the event is cancelled, in which case a refund will be automatically issued to your original payment method. You can transfer your ticket to another MovedTo member, though, using the calendar interface.

      How do I create a social?

      Remember, if you create a social, there is no charge to you for attending. If you’d like to plan a social, we recommend sounding out interest and availability in the WhatsApp chats first, then completing our form.

      How do I join the WhatsApp Community?

      Free members can join the Announcement channel using the joining link here.

      VIPs can request to join interest groups and an admin will endeavour to approve your request within between 24-48 hours. If you still have not been admitted, please e-mail us.
